TEACHER Elementary Classroom Position Required Qualifications: To

1. Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate endorsed for appropriate levels
and subjects. (Assistance can be provided for teachers who do not
yet have their Idaho Teaching Certificate. Such candidates must be
willing to obtain 3-year interim certificate within one year of
hire.) 2. Valid Montessori Credentials for appropriate levels and
subjects. (Assistance can be provided for teachers who do not yet
have their Montessori Credentials) 3. Ability to work with
students, staff, parents, and the public. Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the
qualifications listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made

functions. 1. Experience as a public or private Montessori teacher
or assistant 2. Experience as a contracted teacher in a public
school Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Contract
Hours/Days: Teachers contract days are for 180 daysthis includes
several non-student days before, during, and after the school year.
Teacher hours are from 30 minutes before school until 30 minutes
after dismissal, except on days that require attendance to staff or
committee meetings. Teachers remain at school during lunch hours.
2. Staff and Committee Meetings: Attend all staff and assigned
committee meetings. Teachers will participate on different
committees throughout the year to address specific school needs or
requirements. Staff meetings include but are not limited to teacher
collaboration meetings, curriculum meetings, and RTI meetings. 3.
Lesson Plans: Turn in weekly lesson plans based on a Montessori
curriculum and aligned with Idaho Core Standards. Lesson plans meet
the individual needs, interest, and abilities of students assigned
for instruction. 4. Record Keeping: Record student progress on a
daily basis and track weekly to measure progress toward meeting
expected learning targets. 5. Public Montessori Requirements:
Supporting and achieving State requirements while using the
Montessori system as the basis of meeting those requirements is the
greatest challenge of a public Montessori school teacher. 6.
Lunch/Recess Duties: Additional duties include supervision
assignments necessary to the safe management of the school; as
assigned by the administrator. Other Related Duties and
Responsibilities: 1. Completes all Monticello and state assessment
mandates 2. Completes a school mentor program as required 3.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and
appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. 4. Guides
the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum learning
targets. 5. Employs instructional methods and school-adopted
materials that are most appropriate to the teaching of individual
students. 6. Assesses student accomplishments on a regular basis
and provides progress reports as required 7. Prepares students to
be successful in grade level achievement tests. 8. Tracks students
with learning disabilities and works with specialists and/or
service providers to provide the least restrictive environment for
educational success. 9. Supports the administration in implementing
policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. Develops
reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains
order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. 10. Plans and
supervises purposeful assignments for classroom paraprofessionals
and/or volunteers. 11. Takes all necessary and reasonable
precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities. 12. Strives to maintain and improve professional
competence. 13. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
14. Develops personal leadership skills and areas of expertise. 15.
Maintains a positive work environment; contributes to the knowledge
and skills of others; is a strong team player. 16. Maintains high
standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student
information. 17. Exhibits regular, punctual, and predictable
attendance. 18. Performs all other duties as assigned. Terms of
Employment: An employee working in this position shall, at all
times, be subject to the direction of the persons to whom said
employee has primary responsibility or said persons designee(s),
and at all times shall be subject to the rules, regulations and
policies of Monticello as promulgated by the Board of Trustees and
will promote the same with students and patrons. Each employee
shall be held responsible for having knowledge of said School
rules, regulations and policies. Each employee shall pass a
criminal background check before being hired. Salary will be in
accordance with the placement on the Monticello Certified Salary
Schedule. Evaluation: Performance of this position will be
evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with provisions
of state requirements and board policy. Physical Demands/Work
Environment: The physical demands described here are representative
of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk;
use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;
climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
