Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Network Engineer to
develop and analyze the overall architecture, applications,
technology (hardware/software), hardware logic and cyber security
for the high reliability physical security system and information
networks. Implement imaginative solutions consistent with the
mission need and maintain alignment with the direction and
standards of INL Security Engineering department.
Responsible for network modeling and design of modifications that
meet performance, scalability, reliability and cyber security needs
for the INL Access Control and Alarm System, video system, database
system and associated networks. Monitor, design, modify, and test
complex network systems. Analyze and resolve network anomalies,
maintain reliable network operations, optimize network resources,
support change management and document network changes.
Independently addresses and resolves a wide range of issues in
Complete understanding and wide application with computer system
operations involving Oracle databases, PL/SQL, Cisco network
equipment, C programming and operating systems including Open VMS,
LINUX and Windows 7.
Develops specifications for new products, applications and service
Provides support to technical resources during execution of
projects. May represent Security Engineering and provide solutions
for difficult applications or projects.
Participate in cybersecurity planning and policy creation. Develop
and apply cybersecurity strategies to prevent a breach, intrusion,
or other unauthorized penetration of system networks. Understand
and apply firewall technologies as necessary.
Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education and/or
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, Networking Engineering Technology or other related degree
plus 5 years applicable experience or an Advanced degree in
Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering
Technology or other related degree plus 3 years of applicable
Applicable experience includes, but is not limited to:
- Cisco networking experience at the CCNP or CCIE level
- Familiarity with Linux, OpenVMS, and Windows 7 operating
- Knowledgeable in C/C , ADA, PL/SQL Programming languages.
- Familiarity with embedded systems programming.
Special Requirements and/or Training:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance and
meet the requirements of the Human Reliability Program.
