Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES


Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a fully proficient Electro-Mechanical Technician for the Manufacturing Support organization.

In this role you will support Engineering and R&D projects from conceptual design through fabrication, assembly, calibration, adjustment, and testing prototypes or one-of-a-kind electronic, electro/mechanical, mechanical and/or optical devices, instrument and control systems or processes. You will be required to regularly perform in a lead role to train and mentor other staff members.

The role includes providing accurate estimates, detailed material take-off sheets and accurate as-built drawings.

Work to drawings, schematics, and work specifications to produce successful outcomes utilizing modern techniques and tools of the trade.
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate the performance of prototypical devices, analyze test data, and recommend changes or modifications to improve performance. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain new equipment.
Perform fabrication, machining, welding, brazing, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of simple to very complex systems.
Compile and complete documentation of development and/or test processes.
Interface directly with engineering, designers, and scientific researchers to help resolve technical issues while providing imaginative and practical solutions to technical problems while maintaining effective customer relationships.
Work without appreciable management direction while performing duties.
Assist with the work package planning as needed.
Work to applicable work control documents to ensure that work is conducted safely under proper procedures and ISMS guidelines.
Be service-oriented and responsive to all employees.
Instruct others, when called upon, in all phases of work.
Read and understand technical and industrial signs, manuals, and labels.
Maintain information on time sheets and other records.
Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Participate in work planning walk downs and man-hour estimating.
Perform on-the-job training (OJT) for other employees as required.
Perform material procurement duties as required.
Perform work to proper work control and clearly document and record work that performed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years' experience, or a Vocational Certificate plus 4 years' experience, or Recognized Trade Apprenticeship plus 2 years experience is required.



Must have demonstrated knowledge and adeptness in use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Must have experience fabricating, assembling, calibrating, and testing prototypes.

Must have computer experience.

Must have experience working with written work procedures and reading engineering drawings.



Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DOE "L" clearance.



Must be fully proficient providing accurate estimates, detailed material take-off sheets and accurate as-built drawings.

Must possess and be able to maintain a valid state driver's license for duration of employment.

Must be be capable of satisfactorily completing facility specific, continuous and professional development training as required for duration of employment.



Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining medical qualifications so as not to limit satisfaction of the minimum requirements defined in this document for the duration of employment.

WORK CONDITIONS: High noises ( 85 dB), heights, stairs, heat stress, cold stress, hazardous chemical/waste, power tools,lasers, protective clothing, motor vehicle use, typing/keyboard, 8 hrs./day, overtime/irregular hours, working alone.
