Job Information**This is a multi-level posting**Job Title: Regulatory Development and Support EngineerGrade: 230Org: Risk Assessment & Management ServicesWork Location: Idaho Falls, ID (9x80 Schedule)-------------------------Mission/Vision StatementLeading Nuclear Energy and Research TechnologyMission: Discover, demonstrate and secure innovative nuclear energy solutions, other clean energy options and critical infrastructure.Vision: INL will change the world's energy future and secure our critical infrastructure.-------------------------ResponsibilitiesThe Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an experienced professional to join its Risk Assessment & Management Services department as a Regulatory Development and Support EngineerThe Engineer will lead medium to large projects in a dispersed work team environment and perform tasks associated with current light water reactor and advanced reactor designs in both developing and maintaining existing regulatory frameworks, including those established in conjunction with either the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or the Department of Energy (DOE).The individual in this role will direct and/or contribute to projects or significant tasks that may involve multidisciplinary activities in direct support of reactor owner-operators, reactor technology developers, the NRC, or DOE programs addressing reactor deployment and sustainability. The work will frequently tackle complex or longstanding regulatory challenges, requiring the individual to be able to develop broad-based and collaborative approaches to provide solutions which are highly innovative. Frequent interact with industry stakeholders, including the commercial sector, other parts of DOE s national laboratory complex, the NRC, and DOE will also be expected to regularly confirm that the approaches developed meet customer needs. Some travel and public speaking will be required.This individual will lead significant regulatory framework development projects or tasks and is expected to build high performance teams across organizations, and will participate in professional activities and/or external collaborations. Opportunities will exist for the development of professional publications. The individual will be expected to proactively identify, promote, and develop appropriate new technical capabilities and develop and implement plans for new and significant project opportunities. This includes highlighting the department capabilities to potential new customers, fostering relationships with the NRC and existing customers, serving in positions of visibility in professional organizations, conferences, and various non-government organizations.If you meet the minimum requirements for this position as outlined below, we encourage you to apply for this great opportunity!-------------------------RequirementsA BS degree in a scientific or engineering field plus 8-12 years of relevant experience, or an MS degree in a scientific or engineering field plus 6-8 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a scientific or engineering field plus 4-6 years of relevant experience is required.Required skills include a demonstrated ability to work independently and write technical reports with minimal supervision, manage subcontract work scopes and subcontractor work products, and regularly report on project status and earned value.The ability to effectively communicate with team members in off-site locations is required.Depending on the level awarded to the selected candidate, review and approval by the designated review committee may be required.The selected candidate must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment.Experience with the commercial nuclear industry, state and federal regulators, and technology researchers at DOE labs are a plus.Experience gained at operating nuclear facilities, including integrated plant safety systems operation and experience in NRC-licensee interactions, are a plus.Regulatory experience with various types of reactors, including commercial nuclear power plant operations, advanced light water and non-light water reactor technologies, and test or research reactor facilities is strongly preferred.Selective Service RequirementsTo be eligible for employment at INL males born after December 31, 1959 must have registered with the Selective Service System (SSS).
