Description-******PREFERRED CANDIDATE IDENTIFIED*******-

Use of early-career skills in experimental and systems design as applied to electrical and mechanical systems to perform research in renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and robotics. -This position will use laboratory experimentation, programming, and remote handling expertise as developed by a foundational education in electrical and/or mechanical engineering. -Specific research will be in electrospinning techniques, computer programming, remote handling and robotics, and the modeling of data that come from these research areas. -The position will perform basic calculations to analyze and evaluate experimental data. -This may include application of engineering principles to design, monitor, and evaluate conditions and operational performance of systems related to electro-mechanical engineering. -The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills; good interpersonal skills; and a publication record. -The candidate will work in a team environment. -Ideal applicants will demonstrate (1) proactive and flexible ways of working in a dynamic R&D environment, (2) willingness to seek opportunities to learn new skills, (3) a self-motivated work ethic, and (4) a collaborative and teamwork attitude. This position may involve some work outside normal office hours.

The position will require the candidate to:

*-- -Apply sound engineering principles to develop and deliver specific research and development objectives and deliverables including design documents and written procedures for developed systems and processes

*-- -Lead mechanical activities associated with setting up of new, reconfiguring of existing, maintaining, and operating laboratory and full-scale mechanical systems

*-- -Independently obtain and collect data from research experiments and hardware assemblies and components

*-- -Perform technical evaluation of data related to the operation and testing of electro/mechanical systems

*-- -Contribute to the development of program plans; identify concepts for new business and assist in their development

*-- -Extract and compile technical data and documentation as required and contribute to technical reports, publications, and presentations at national technical meetings and project reviews with program sponsors

*-- -Support management and work program leadership in meeting DOE/industry expectations, milestones and deliverables, and INL internal reporting metrics

*-- -Interface and develop relations with other labs and industry related to current work scope

To Department Manager for completing quarterly performance reviews and updating time-card daily and submitting both on time

*-- -To Department Manager for complying with laboratory policies, standards, and procedures

*-- -To Department Manager for meeting security requirements

*-- -To Department Manager for maintaining productive work assignments for self and others

*-- -To Department Manager, Lab Space Coordinator and Principal Investigator for maintaining training qualifications, working within authorized scope, being compliant with established hazard mitigations, and following lab-wide work control processes.

*-- -To Group Lead and Principal Investigator for documenting work and meeting periodic reporting requirements/milestones
