If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Reliability, Risk and Resilience Sciences group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Entry Level Engineer or Scientist in Risk and Reliability Modeling.Our team works an on-site 9x80schedule located at our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off!Responsibilities Include:Staff member responsible for supporting activities performed by Reliability, Risk, and Resilience Sciences Department. This support is with respect to both national and international customers requiring development of advanced risk analysis methods or tools for various applications. The staff member supports activities of basic reliability or risk analysis theories, principles, methods, concepts, tools, and technologies. The staff member applies these skills for various applications with a major work focus towards systems such as commercial nuclear power and aerospace applications. The staff member uses knowledge in other related fields, such as data analysis or machine learning to develop new risk information. The staff member is mentored with the expectation of becoming a contributing professional who is building a reputation for technical expertise. After initial on-the-job risk assessment and licensing aspects training, the staff member supports the development of advanced risk analysis methods and tools with minimal oversight. The staff member works on project(s) teams to building effective internal relationships and a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, resource sharing, and mutual respect for those in the PMT Department. The staff member is encouraged to participate in professional activities, university interactions, special assignments, and external special interest groups. The staff member will be groomed to contribute to the development of new capabilities within the department. Products and deliverables will include portions of journal papers, reports, proceedings, scientific, and technical products.Work in some or all of the following areas of research and applications will likely be performed:

  • Basic understanding of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA)
  • Basic understanding of programming language(s)
  • Functional ability to use, read, write, or modify code (e.g., C#, Python, R, C, etc.) or manipulate input/output files
  • Hazards assessment
  • Machine learning or time-series data analysis.
  • Graphical fault trees and fault tree analysis
  • Reliability, availability, maintainability, analysis (RAM)
  • System safety analysis
  • Verification and Validation of modeling and simulation applications
  • Fire PRA or fire simulation modelling (such as CFAST or FDS)
  • Statistical analysis
  • Regulatory and licensing activities with the nuclear community
  • Development of advanced risk analysis methods Qualifications .
    • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and 2 years relevant experience, or Master of Science degree in engineering and 1 year relevant experience, or Doctorate in engineering
