Job Description:
Work Location: Site - RWMC
Work Schedule: 4 x 10, M - Th
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of a Fire Protection Technical Specialist is to
provide basic fire protection support to an assigned Site Area. The
Fire Protection Technical Specialist assists in developing
solutions to a wide range of complex fire protection issues, which
require ingenuity, innovation, and creativity. Duties includes
assisting with the management of fire hazards analysis (FHAs), fire
safety assessments (FSAs), engineering design files (EDFs), and
facility design reviews while working under the direct supervision
of a qualified Fire Protection Engineer as directed by management.
Other fire protection activities include review of work control
documentation and walk downs to ensure safe and timely completion
of inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems
and equipment. Additional fire protection responsibilities
including implementation and management of the company's fire
protection programs including, but not limited to, management of
fire protection impairments, control of cutting, welding, and other
hot work activities, control of combustible loading, and control of
flammable and combustible liquids. Plan for Fire Protection
Technical Specialist will be in 3 years of fire experience to
become company Fire Protection Engineer.
Fire Protection Technical Specialist Minimum Education
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum
Plus demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles
Plus no less than 4 years of engineering practice
Fire Protection Technical Specialist Experience:
3 years fire protection field experience preferred. Additional
years of experience a plus
Fire protection experience at DOE sites a plus
Should be knowledgeable in fire protection regulations/standards
that apply at a DOE contract facility subject to 10 CFR 851
requirements. Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) and International Building Code (IBC) for evaluating fire
protection issues required.
Fire Protection Engineer Minimum Education Requirements:
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection
OR
Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum
Plus no less than 4 years of engineering practice, with at least 3
of these years being in responsible charge of diverse fire
protection engineering work
Fire Protection Engineer Experience:
Shall be knowledgeable in fire protection regulations/standards
that apply at a DOE contract facility subject to 10 CFR 851
requirements. Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) and International Building Code (IBC) for evaluating fire
protection issues required.
Minimum of 3 years professional level, fire protection field
experience required. Additional years of experience (a plus)
Fire protection PE (a plus)
Graduate degree in Fire Protection (a plus)
Fire protection experience at DOE sites (a plus)
