Description:
The essential duties for a Senior/Specialist Engineering
Technologist may include:
* Direct a variety of engineering and science work in
planning, analysis, design and testing, and data
collection and analysis;
* Prepare work instructions, procedures, and technical
manuals in support of maintenance, operations, and
testing of components, systems, and equipment with
minimal oversight;
* Follow the execution of non-routine complex
engineered work supporting fleet, field, technology,
analysis, manufacturing, facilities, testing, crew
training, and operations activities;
* Complete and maintain records documenting
engineering schematics, installed equipment,
installation and operations problems, resources
used, and repairs or corrective action performed
with minimal oversight;
* Direct several others to prepare drawings and
manufacturing specifications and procure hardware in
support of program objectives with minimal
oversight;
* Coordinate the work of suppliers so that equipment
is delivered on-time and is manufactured properly
with minimal oversight;
* Review non-routine complex engineering work in
specific technical areas such as specification
compliance, manufacturability, or quality
requirements;
* Provide direction and review for others to perform
tasks in support of the chemical management and
hazardous and radioactive wastes including
accounting, auditing, monitoring, training, and
procedure preparation;
* Provide direction and peer review of others to
perform tasks in support of the control and
accountability of nuclear or radioactive materials,
including accounting, auditing, monitoring,
training, procedure preparation, planning,
forecasting, decontamination, and performing minor
design and calculation tasks;
* Perform tasks in support of products manufactured by
or for FMP programs including: coordinate, modify or
update detailed manufacturing plans and schedules,
assure that inspection procedures and data are
adequate to guarantee specification requirements are
met, and conduct operational test programs with
minimal oversight;
* Provide direction and review for others to perform
tasks in support of environmental, safety, and
health including safety, inspection/monitoring and
technical training;
* Plan and schedule the shipment of various materials,
equipment, and components in compliance with
internal procedures and all federal and state
regulations with minimal oversight;
* Direct several others to perform tasks that support
machinery/system operation including: layout,
tooling design, and application of diagnostic
equipment for process optimization and repair;
* Provide direction and peer review for others
preparing design specifications or cost, materials,
and resource estimates, and prepare project
schedules and budgets;
* Perform technical work that could include project
follow, inspection of construction projects,
maintenance of daily construction status, follow
and/or supervise operations of plant systems and
follow and/or supervise plant maintenance/repair
activities and works closely with engineering
disciplines to ensure technical requirements of the
activity are accomplished with minimal oversight;
* Support other Engineering Technologists and
Engineers performing related work;
* Obtain the necessary qualifications to perform
higher level engineering technology work;
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Senior:
BS degree in technical discipline from an accredited
college or university and a minimum of two years of
relevant experience; or
Associate degree in technical discipline from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of six
years of relevant experience; or
High School diploma and a minimum of ten years of
relevant experience.
Specialist:
BS degree in technical discipline from an accredited
college or university and a minimum of six years of
relevant experience; or
Associate degree in technical discipline from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of ten
years of relevant experience; or
High School diploma and a minimum of fourteen years of
relevant experience.
