Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an entry level Fire
Protection Engineer/Safety Professional.
Under the direction of a Senior Fire Protection Engineer/Safety
Professional this position provides applied fire protection
engineering theories and principles to well-defined assignments
with a defined scope. This individual has a basic knowledge of but
not limited to NFPA, DOE, IBC, IFC standards, orders and
regulations. Develops solutions to routine problems of limited
scope. Assignments may include but are not limited to the
modification of fire assessments such as Abbreviated Fire
Assessments or Fire Safety Assessments with guidance and peer
reviews of more experienced Fire Protection engineers, assessing
combustible loading within facilities, approve impairments, and
reviewing work control documents with defined hazards. Actions will
be taken by this individual to broaden and deepen technical
knowledge in the field of Fire Protection. This individual will
seek to understand the work organization they support while
establishing and maintaining relationships of trust with customers
and co-workers. Further descriptions of principle job duties are
established in LRD-14002 Safety, Fire Protection, and Industrial
Hygiene Functions, Roles, Responsibilities, and Interfaces.
This position applies basic safety engineering theories and
principles to well-defined assignments with a limited scope under
the direction of more senior safety professionals. This individual
has a basic knowledge of but not limited to OSHA, NFPA, DOE, ANSI
standards, orders and regulations. Assignments may include safety
assessments with guidance, assessing hazard controls and reviewing
work control documents with defined hazards. Actions will be taken
by this individual to broaden and deepen technical knowledge in the
field of safety. This individual will seek to understand the work
organization they support while establishing and maintaining
relationships of trust with customers and co-workers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND/OR
Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or related. This
position requires an engineering degree. Mechanical, Chemical and
Electrical will be taken into consideration.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Meet minimum qualifications in STD-14101 for a Safety Engineer.
Meet minimum qualification in DOE-STD-1066-2012 for a Fire
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR TRAINING:
To practice fire protection and to meet the DOE Order the degreed
candidate must have an engineering degree in fire protection.
Mechanical engineering, Chemical engineering and Electrical
engineering may be considered).
Industrial Safety experience and or education preferred.
SELECTIVE SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for employment at INL males born after December 31,
