Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Nuclear Facility
Quality Engineer to provide professional Quality Engineering
support for the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) to ensure
compliance with DOE, Laboratory, and customer specific quality
requirements applicable to nuclear facility work activities. Basic
work activities include:
Provide quality program consulting to line managers making
recommendations for proper implementation of quality program
requirements and process improvement.
Perform quality compliance reviews of:
- design documents
- safety basis documents
- work control documents
- material requisitions
- other relevant documents
Develop and/or approve quality inspection plans for nuclear
Ensure compliance with company, corporate, and DOE quality
Assist in developing appropriate quality program and project
Provide input for solutions to repair and design issues for MFC
facilities, using ingenuity and innovation.
Provide quality program support to Engineers in new structure,
system and component (SSC) design, and development.
Provide oversight to verify applicable construction codes and
consensus standards are implemented during design, fabrication, and
construction of new SSC's.
Perform assessments to determine compliance with and implementation
of company QA Program requirements.
Ensure quality program weakness and areas for process improvement
are properly identified and resolved using the INL Issues
Mentor peers and engineers in developing and maintaining INL
quality program requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND/OR
Bachelors degree in a related technical field plus 5 years relevant
experience in the execution of work to a quality program such as
NQA-1 or ISO-9000. In lieu of this, an advanced degree combined
with 3 years of same type of experience is acceptable. Strong
background in various nuclear industry codes and consensus
standards. Proficient in use of computers and business systems for
the execution of work and record creation/retrieval. Must be able
to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR TRAINING:
Must have a good understanding and knowledge of quality management
concepts and practices and be familiar with quality assurance
codes, standards, and regulations. Must have a working knowledge of
the technical and practical sides of quality engineering. Must have
experience reviewing technical engineering reports, designs, and
inspection plans. Previous NDE qualifications in RT, UT, MT, VT and
other inspection qualifications such as dimensional and leak
testing is beneficial. Excellent oral and written communications
skills are necessary. Experience writing procedures and conducting
assessments is desired. Demonstrated ability to perform independent
quality program surveillances and assessment.
