INL offers a Cooperative Education Program internship that allows
student to apply the knowledge they obtain through their university
studies with practical hands-on experience alongside nationally
recognized scientist and engineers.
Through this single application, you are considered for all co-op
internship projects within your indicated discipline. Simply
complete the application questions which will help us identify what
knowledge and experience you already have that may be related to
the preferred qualifications for each individual co-op project. It
is common for applicants to receive consideration for multiple
projects at varying times throughout the process.
Idaho National Lab is a prime research center the United States for
advanced technologies associated with nuclear energy power systems,
renewable energy reserach, and National Homeland Security.
Responsibilities may include:
* Define requirements and develop design concepts
* Complete and document detailed design
* Develop engineering documents such as drawings, specifications,
and calculations to support work assignments
* Provide engineering support during equipment installation
* Perform system and component testing and surveillance
* Perform data collection and analysis
* Troubleshoot equipment
* Maintain configuration of assigned facilities and systems.
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) hosts over 400 undergraduate and
graduate students each year to support INL s mission. Opportunities

Interns will spend the first week of their assignment working with
their mentor to outline their work scope and to secure resources
for a successful internship. For the next several weeks, the mentor
will provide considerable program assistance and guidance to the
intern. In addition to regular activities, interns are invited to
attend weekly seminars, tours and community events designed with
career development in mind. Completion of a final project is highly
recommended and can be completed through a variety of mediums a
traditional poster, electronic presentation or video.

carries over to your new applications. You will have to review your
previously submitted information in each step, ensure it is

Qualifications - External
All Co-Op Internship Candidates Must:
-- Enrolled full time student status at an accredited college or
university in a Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Chemical
Engineering Bachelors program
-- Registration in their university co-op education program
-- Have the ability to pass a background check
-- Possess a minimum overall 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
-- Maintenance of good academic standing in an undergraduate
program of study at college/university for the duration of co-op
-- Possess authorization to work in the U.S.
Required for Your INL Co-Op Internship Application:
1. Current resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Unofficial Transcripts (include current and completed degree

* US citizenship required.
* Business experience/coursework in: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word,

* Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
* Registration in their university co-op education program
* Eligible to participate per their universities program
* Signed co-op agreement between the student and university,
