Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Laboratory Assistant IV:
Core Lab Processor/Send Outs to join our team!JOB SUMMARY:Process
and aliquot specimens while ensuring the stability and integrity of
the samples are closely monitored as needed for Core Lab
(Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation) and Send Out
samples to maintain highest quality. Provide good customer service
on the phone, to patients, to providers and other medical staff.
Prioritize samples based on order status (STAT, Timed and Routine)
and communicate order status effectively to the MLS staff. Work
well under pressure and meet multiple and competing

classification.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Performs laboratory
processing duties as assigned in the Core Lab such as pouring off
samples, keeping them at correct temperature for stability, and
light protection as necessary.2. Answers appropriate phone calls
for basic questions about specimen requirements or status of a test
that is running in the lab. Refers complex questions regarding test
results or technical questions to the appropriate MLS staff.3.
Distributes samples to the appropriate lab department based on the
tests ordered and communicates any special sample handling
requirements to the MLS staff. a. Prioritizes samples based on
order status (STAT, Timed, Routine) and communicates elevated order
status (STAT or Timed) effectively to the MLS staff in each
department.4. Assists in processing send out specimens to the
appropriate Reference Lab, as assigned.5. Follow all hospital and
laboratory policies and procedures including, but not limited to,
patient identification, specimen collection, specimen rejection,
specimen labeling, and specimen stability.6. Provide meticulous,
competent and quality care of all patient samples.7. Follows
standard precautions using personal protective equipment as
required.8. Maintain, develop and utilize professional
relationships within our organization and its affiliates. Maintain
effective working relationships with nursing, clerical, medical and
allied health staff.9. Provide excellent customer service on the
phone and in person to anyone that enters the laboratory. Answers
incoming calls to the laboratory in a professional and timely
manner.10. Performs miscellaneous tasks and other duties that
promote smooth operations, as assigned.11. Assist Medical
Laboratory Scientists with tasks to ensure acceptable turnaround

higher. Hold a current BLS Certification. Hold a valid driver's
license.Experience: Two years of phlebotomy/laboratory processing
experience preferred.Equipment/Technology: Experience with
computers and office equipment, required.Language/Communication:
The ability to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively
in English, required. Bilingual is a plus. Must be able to
understand medical terminology.Mathematical Skills: General Math
skills.Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make
sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical
thinker.Interpersonal: Good communication skills, and ability to
work well with others. Team player and flexible.Performance: Can
work well under pressure and meet multiple and competing deadlines.
Provide excellent customer service. Complete all tasks with minimal
error and in a timely manner.
