Position Type: PRN Defined: Work minimum of one shift per two week pay period to assist with staffing for coverage of absences for staff planned/unplanned and/or increase in census. Participant in the continuum of medical care as a trained and experienced nurse. Provide professional and high quality nursing care to oncology patients within the Department of Radiation Oncology, Cancer Center. To provide assistance to the clerical specialist with scheduling, phones, and filing. The Radiation Oncology Nurse is responsible for patient/family education, management of radiation therapy side effects, assisting with intracavitary and interstitial isotope insertions, performing other nursing procedures (such as transfusions, IV infusions, phlebotomies, injections, dressing changes, etc.) Establishes coordination and communication of care for patients between inpatient and outpatient settings including transportation services to aid in the continuity of care.
