and a new 6 petaflop supercomputer coming online in 2020, Idaho
National Laboratory is seeking an exceptional leader with a passion
for research computing and a proven record of growing applied
scientific computing programs.
The Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC) Division seeks applications
for Chief Computational/Data Scientist. The ASC Division provides
scientific computing resources and support for Idaho National
Support INLs mission to discover, demonstrate, and secure
innovative nuclear energy solutions, other clean energy options,
and critical infrastructure
Develop nationally-recognized scientific computing capabilities and
integrate computing expertise across all INLs research and
engineering directorates Nuclear Science and Technology (S&T),
Energy and Environment S&T, National and Homeland Security
S&T, Advanced Test Reactor, and Materials and Fuels
Create strategic research and engineering partnerships with
universities, industry, and other national laboratories.
Provide forward-thinking leadership ensuring the integration of
computation/AI with experiment
Ph.D. (or M.S. degree with commensurate professional experience) in
an engineering, applied science, or computational science field
with eight or more years of experience in performing and leading
Deep analytical skills with a proficiency in theory and application
of computational science, applied mathematics, statistics,
artificial intelligence, data science, and/or visualization.
Consistent track record of accomplishments through publications,
awards, professional recognition, and execution of research and
development vision and strategy.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and experience
in interacting with researchers and leadership.
Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. DOE
Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment.
