Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a seasoned graphic designer with advanced animation and display skills to support the laboratory's mission of changing the world's energy future! In this important role, an experienced professional designer will produce complex original animations, artwork, and illustrations for inclusion in scientific and engineering presentations, social media or Youtube videos. They will also design 3D hardware-based displays, and work with vendors to facilitate their production and installation. The designer is responsible for creating 2- and 3-D animation and artwork that can be used in videos and other media and will work with the customer to create storyboards to help envision the project. In addition, they will design 3D displays, create conceptual mockups prior to production and installation. They must have excellent skills using the Adobe Creative Suite, an understanding of design principles, exceptional artistic abilities and experience with different forms of art to develop a product suitable for clients and audiences. They will plan and develop complex animation and display projects, including the selection of the most appropriate art production methods, and the production of the products within time, cost, and quality requirements. Functions as a backup to the art director for company level projects. Can direct team projects and oversee the work of subcontract artists with guidance from INL's art director. Collaborates with other artists and work as a team member in support of a wide variety of graphic products. Operates graphics software and equipment proficiently to ensure cost and schedule commitments are met. Works with minimal direction in the preparation of complex technical or design artwork and animation. Ideal candidate will have extensive experience creating animations for social media and advertisements. Coordinates production efforts with other units such as Text Processing, Printing, and Photography. Designs and creates complex illustrations using isometric, perspective cutaway, exploded views, schematics, and other advanced graphic art skills for inclusion in brochures, three-dimensional presentations, videos, displays, posters, multi-media presentations, and technical models. Consults with requesters on optimal quality and most effective production methods. Collaborates with customers to plan and prepare graphics products. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in graphic arts design or animation, and a minimum of five years related experience OR Master's degree and three years of experience. Prior animation and graphic art design experience, and strong preference for previous knowledge of INL processes and procedures, and R&D program and operations activities. Ability to manage several projects at once, work independently, and demonstrate strong analytical and common-sense thinking. Demonstrate flexibility and ability to prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong relationship management and prioritization skills to effectively manage collaboration with program, and project managers, and staff. Preferred Requirements: Must be an in-depth specialist in the field of graphic design animation. Must be fully knowledgeable of theory, principles and practices related to graphic design and animation.
