looking for! Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Biological
Processing group is seeking forward-thinking, professionals
interested in exploring a career as a Staff Environmental Engineer
This position supports the department's work in critical materials
and bioenergy research. Specifically, the position entails
activities associated with environmental engineering, including
laboratory-based study and culturing of microorganisms to
synthesize or degrade chemicals and fuels. As advised by principal
investigators, sets up and performs a variety of unique laboratory
research studies to prove new principles and concepts. Collects,
assimilates, and interprets laboratory data. Develops solutions to
routine problems of limited scope. Follows specific work
instructions with the goal of assisting in the planning research
tasks and assessing and applying research techniques to those
tasks. Can serve as a technical resource to others in environmental
engineering. Serves as a contributor to the generation of reports,
publications, and proposals. Experience or education in wastewater
treatment, statistics and bioinformatics is a plus.
Responsibilities Include: To Department Manager, Laboratory Space
Coordinator, and Principal Researcher for:
- Updating timecard daily and submitting it on time.
- Accomplishing all research tasks on or ahead of schedule.
- For working within the approved safety envelope.
- Implementing processes to ensure safety, compliance, and
orderly operation of assigned laboratory/experimental spaces.
- Ensuring hazards are understood and appropriate mitigations are
- Maintaining a clean workspace
- Meeting security requirements.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- B.S. in environmental engineering or related discipline
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Laboratory experience obtained in college with some experience
obtained through employment.
- Some experience in instrumental techniques.
- Experience or education in wastewater treatment, statistical
analysis of data and bioinformatics.
- Salary Grade: 200
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected
candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on
depth and breadth of proven experience and skills
