ORGANIZATION: Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) GRADE: 170/180 WORK LOCATION: Idaho Falls, ID (MFC Site 4x10s schedule) Does a career focused on changing the world's energy future intrigue you? INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design, development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis. As a member of an integrated engineering project team, this senior drafter applies multi-disciplined engineering design and drafting skills and techniques to facilitate the development of engineered design drawings, and supporting documentation for structures, systems, and components. Candidate must have a mastery of knowledge base and skill in electrical drafting. Responsibilities Include:
  • Works closely with engineers, technicians, operations personnel, project managers, and other drafters to complete detailed design drawings to customer's requirements.
  • Manages tasks which include cost estimates of effort and schedule input to meet project milestones.
  • Works in complex multi-discipline teams to perform definitive design and drafting. Provides field support during fabrication, construction, and start-up.
  • Monitors, trains, guides and mentors work of more junior staff. Performs work within the established company procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 3 - High School Education and 2-4 years of relevant experience or vocational Certificate or Associate Degree in Drafting with 7 years of experience preferred.
  • Level 4 - minimum qualifications: High School Education and 6 years of relevant experience or vocational Certificate or Associate Degree in Drafting with 9 years of experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of nationally recognized standards (e.g. ANSI, ASME, MIL-STD, IEEE, etc.)
  • Must have a working knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD graphics software.
  • Must have overall understanding of various types of drawings (e.g. mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, Structural, civil, etc.) with specialization in Electrical Drafting and Design.
