Candidate will be primarily a laboratory based researcher, with other responsibilities such as the collection, interpretation, and publication of research data and results. Candidate will be required to interface with other researchers to develop new concepts and technologies. Specifically, the candidate will perform basic research at the laboratory scale in the area of heterogeneous catalyst characterization and kinetic modeling.This work could also include operando spectroscopic catalyst characterization or electrocatalytic reaction characterization combined with transient kinetic methods. Experience with the use of transient kinetic, operando spectroscopic and/or electrocatalytic techniques is highly desired along with a demonstrated publication record in the area of heterogeneous catalysis, operando characterization and/or electrocatalytic reactions. Responsibilities include catalyst synthesis and characterization using both conventional and advanced transient kinetic techniques, data analysis and interpretation at the direction of their INL mentor. Responsibilities may also include design and testing of new operando and electrocatalytic reactor concepts.QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD requirements in chemical engineering or related disciplines must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years. Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English). Developing publication record in the area of heterogeneous catalysis, operando spectroscopic characterization and/or electrocatalytic processes.Selective Service RequirementsTo be eligible for employment at INL males born after December 31, 1959must have registered with the Selective Service System (SSS).
