  • The Inpatient Advanced Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.
  • The Advanced Paramedic will perform all duties identified in their job description and validated by competency assessment under the License of the designated supervising physician (as designated by hospital CMO), or their designee.
  • They will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested.
  • The Advanced Paramedic will provide for patient safety, and attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy. 
  • Contributes to the growth and development of self and department.  Maintains an active involvement.  Maintains good working relationship with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff. 
  • Maintains competence with charting system. 
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives as requested
  • Maintains competence in documentation
  • Utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) for communication during transitions of care
  • Support and represent the facility’s Core Values while performing the role
  • Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy
  • Safely administer pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care
  • Provides appropriate patient assessments/reassessments, interventions, and evaluation of treatments and therapies
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary provision of care by working in collaboration with other disciplines
  • Assures that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored appropriately and are available when needed.  Manages and cares for department equipment by following accepted cleaning policies and quality checks

 

The largest medical facility in the region, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) includes a full-service hospital with 318 patient beds. It serves as the region’s healthcare hub, serving southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park and parts of Montana.  EIRMC is home to a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (of only two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. Our ER is the most experienced in the region. The hospital's other specialty services include the region's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit capable of caring for babies born as early as 22 weeks gestation; the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Unit, the largest heart program in the region, a Behavioral Health Center which is a74-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric hospital  and the region’s only Primary Stroke Center.

  • Education:  Current certification/licensure as a Paramedic per state requirements. Current American Red Cross/American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, & PALS certification required.
  • Experience:  Minimum 1 years of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.

Current clinical competency must be demonstrated and additional education/training may be required by the hospital employing the Advanced Paramedic.  Competency assessment, training, education and performance review shall be the sole responsibility of the hospital that employs the Advanced Paramedic.
