works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels
Complex with every Friday off! Responsibilities Include: The
Analytical Research Laboratories at Idaho National Laboratory (INL)
is seeking applicants for an Analytical Chemist. Experience working
with irradiated materials and/or experience in separations is
desired, but not a requirement. A variety of experience levels will
be hired from this posting. The Analytical Research Laboratories
(ARL) are uniquely connected to a range of nuclear research
activities throughout INL, the nation, and the world. As a chemist
in the ARL, you will interact with a highly motivated team working
every day to accomplish INL's mission of securing the nation's
energy future through the characterization of nuclear fuels using
world-class instrumentation and techniques. We encourage you to

scientific environment. The laboratories house a wide range of
analytical instrumentation, from a comprehensive suite of mass
spectroscopy instrumentation that includes OES, quadrupole,
hi-resolution, TOF, and multi-collector instruments, advanced gas
analyzers, a variety of radiation measurement instrumentation,
including m--bius-cooled gamma-ray detectors, alpha/beta counters,
and liquid scintillation counters. INL is recognized as the lead
national laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear
Energy Directorate and provides much of the research, development,
and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation
forward to deployment. As the leader in the Gateway for Accelerated
Nuclear (GAIN) initiative, INL serves as the nation's bridge
between research and commercial deployment of new nuclear fuel
concepts. Requirements/Responsibilities: Develop
proficiency/expertise in the preparation of samples, and analysis
and interpretation of radioanalytical data from nuclear samples
obtained from a variety of analytical instrumentation Work
independently and in collaboration with other ARL team members to
develop new methods and experiments for testing and analyzing
unique materials Prepare detailed, written technical reports,
documents, presentations, and publications Ensure integrity of
analytical process throughout sample life-cycle Collaborate with
interdisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, operators, and
technicians Ability to communicate results to internal and external
sponsors via oral presentations Ensure accurate, high-quality
results are attained on agreed upon schedules Mentor and train
junior staff members Assist ARL in its ongoing expansion as a
world-class laboratory Minimum Requirements: Master's degree or
higher in chemistry, physics, or related field and 1-3 years'
relevant experience Relevant experience includes in academia,
private industry or nuclear MS or PhD in chemistry, physics,
geochemistry, or nuclear engineering, or the equivalent combination
of education and related experience This position requires the
ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L"
clearance, which requires US Citizenship Preferred Requirements:
Significant ability to perform independent analysis of technical
problems involving complex data sets and communicate results
Significant experience and ability to track details without losing
sight of broader scientific objectives Ability to develop
independent research projects as demonstrated through publication
of peer-reviewed literature or equivalent classified research
documents Experience in radiochemistry, radioactive counting
techniques, and/or analytical chemistry methods Experience with
statistical analysis of datasets Advanced verbal and written
communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively in a team
environment and present technical information Initiative and
interpersonal skills necessary to work in a collaborative,
multidisciplinary team environment, including the ability to
provide / receive constructive criticism Ability to lead teams and
manage technical collaborations Job Information: Salary Grade 200
($79,140 - $130,572)/220 ($104,688 - $172,668) Chosen applicants
