The Risk Assessment & Management Services department within INL's
Nuclear Science & Technology directorate is seeking an experienced
technical expert in the areas of risk and reliability, nuclear
plant operations, and nuclear industry engagement.
As Risk and Reliability Analysis Engineer, you will serve as the
lead of the Risk-Informed Systems Analysis (RISA) Pathway under the
Light Water Reactor Sustainability (LWRS) Program. The LWRS Program
conducts research to develop technologies and other solutions to
improve the economics and reliability, sustain the safety, and
extend the operation of our nations fleet of nuclear power plants.
This critically important national program has two objectives: (1)
to provide science and technology-based solutions to industry to
overcome the current labor-intensive business model and associated
practices, and (2) to manage the aging of systems, structures, and
components (SSCs) so nuclear power plants can continue to operate
safely and cost effectively.
The position requires demonstrated ability for developing
innovative programs, leadership in industry initiatives, and
leading teams in the areas of risk analysis, safety assessment,
nuclear plant economics, or licensing applications. The position
will also entail leading research and development teams for the
Department of Energy (DOE) in current and future activities under
the RISA Pathway. You will direct technical projects or significant
tasks that may involve multi-disciplinary and multi-Laboratory

no precedence requiring specialized techniques to provide solutions
which are highly innovative. You will determine or approve the
technical approach for solving problems and meeting client needs.

A BS degree in a scientific or engineering field plus 8-12 years of
relevant industry experience, or an MS degree in a scientific or
engineering field plus 6-8 years of relevant industry experience,
or a PhD in a scientific or engineering field plus 4-6 years of
relevant industry experience is required.
An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in nuclear science, engineering, or
a related discipline with at least 10 years of related experience
Candidates for this position must have strong leadership and
business management skills, a proven track record of
accomplishments, and experience with development and execution of
an R&D vision and strategy.
This position also requires excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, a proven record of establishing effective
collaborations across organizations, experience interacting
effectively with a broad spectrum of people and issues in a
fast-paced environment, and experience developing and/or
maintaining a healthy, positive, and inclusive work environment
that promotes and enhances innovation.
Depending on the level the selected candidate is awarded, this
position may require R&D Scientific and Engineering Promotion
