(including functional coatings, metallic fuels, ceramic fuels), and
relevant characterization methods, especially methods used in post
irradiation microstructural examinations (transmission electron
microscopy, X-ray diffraction) is required.
Demonstrated experience in developing advanced fabrication
technologies and material synthesis through developing fuel systems
is a plus. Familiarity or experience with analyzing and modeling
experimental results is required as these positions require
interfacing with developers of fuel performance and advanced
manufacturing model developers. It is expected that the
investigators will be able to conduct analyses (thermodynamic,
structural, fuel performance, manufacturing) for current and novel
fuel systems to aid the design of advanced fuel systems or predict
An understanding of the performance issues of fuels and materials
under extreme environments are also expected in these roles.
Experience in the planning, design, and/or post irradiation
examination of fuels and materials experiments is desirable.
