Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Power Systems Engineering
Technician to support research and development activities within
the Power and Energy Systems Group in INLs Energy and Environment
Science and Technology (EES&T) Directorate.
The Power Systems Engineering Technician will perform laboratory
work, preventative maintenance of lab infrastructure and equipment
and assist with laboratory expansion plans in accordance with INLs
high safety standards. You must have a strong understanding of
Power and Energy Systems equipment installation & construction,
high voltage power systems, mechanical system, systems operation
and also be capable of following experimental procedures and
directions by staff and fellow researchers.
In addition, you will:
Take a leadership role in the design, construction and operation of
new experimental systems in accordance with applicable codes and
Have responsibility for safe operation of experimental systems,
exercise independent judgment to ensure safety of personnel,
systems and facility.
Have responsibility for the operation and routine maintenance of
experimental systems and equipment, create test plans, reports &
technical documentation. Perform all work in accordance with INL's
high safety standards.
Have prior experience and demonstrated high level of safety from
the power and mechanical systems perspective.
Have responsibility for creating safety related documents for
projects and obtaining approvals from INL safety and facility

prosperity, and environmental sustainability. It embodies science
and engineering functions that contribute enabling technologies for
today's national energy portfolio. It also augments the country's
technical ability to collaborate on and overcome critical energy
and water challenges that already impact tomorrow's energy choices.
This position supports and integrates actions, activities,
projects, & initiatives of the EES&T Directorate's Integrated
Mission Plan and other INL research development, demonstration, and
deployment (RDD&D) efforts.
Associates degree in a related field plus a minimum of 6 years
relevant experience or High School diploma and 10 years relevant
education/experience in lieu of degree.
Knowledge and experience of working with power, nuclear, and
mechanical systems in a research environment
Minimum of 6 years of experience in power and mechanical systems in

Experience related to operation and installation of inverters,
power controllers, mechanical systems, etc.
Working knowledge of NEC codes, Mechanical codes, and OSHA
