We are hiring for a sitewide Electrical-Mechanical Technician to
support our various research and development teams!
Support research, development, and demonstration projects from
conceptual design through fabrication, assembly, calibration,
adjustment, and prototype testing. Engage as a team member for
research equipment development including one-of-a-kind electronic,
electro/mechanical, mechanical devices, instrument and control
systems, and processes.
Regularly perform in a lead role to train and mentor other staff
members. May function as a lead over the shop when directed by line
management. Work without appreciable management direction while
performing their duties.
The role includes providing accurate estimates, detailed material
take-off sheets, and accurate as-built drawings.
- Work to drawings, schematics, and work specifications to
produce successful outcomes utilizing modern techniques and tools
of the trade.
- Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate the performance
of prototypical devices, analyze test data, and recommend changes
or modifications to improve performance. Install, troubleshoot, and
maintain new equipment.
- Perform fabrication, machining, welding, brazing, assembly,
troubleshooting, and testing of simple to very complex
- Compile and complete documentation of development and/or test
- Interface directly with engineering, designers, and scientific
researchers to help resolve technical issues while providing
imaginative and practical solutions to technical problems while
maintaining effective customer relationships.
- Assist with work package planning as needed.
- Work to applicable work control documents to ensure that work
is conducted safely under proper procedures and ISMS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain qualifications for
applicable job code.
- Recognized trade apprenticeship and 1-2 years related work
- 2-year vocational training program and 2-5 years of experience
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of work
Must have demonstrated knowledge and adeptness in use of Microsoft
Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and overall computer experience.
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a security "Q"
clearance for duration of employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
