Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Worker Technician
Metallographer to join the Naval Reactors Facility's (NRF)
Operations team! This exciting position is to perform
metallographic testing on reactor fuel components or associated
materials in a hot cell environment. Specifically assigned to the
hot cells work group performing metallography exams on the Naval
Nuclear Propulsion Program materials. Responsibilities include
maintaining a high standard of metallurgical specimen preparation.
Familiarity of preparation practices for alloy and material types
and develop practices for new materials. Maintain good working
practices with engineering organization and test sponsors.
Responsibilities could also include managing lab activities and
supervising/training other lab personnel.
Required Skills
Knowledge of metallography laboratory practices, use of lab
equipment.
Preferred Skills
Adeptat handling equipment and analytical instruments.
It is important for the candidate to be versatile and willing to
cross train in other areas.
Practical experience with the materials and chemicals used in
metallurgical preparation.
