Work Location: Idaho Falls, ID

MISSION/VISION STATEMENT: Empowering the Nation's Energy Future

MISSION: Discover, demonstrate and secure innovative nuclear energy solutions, other clean energy options and critical infrastructure.
VISION: INL will change the world's energy future and secure our critical infrastructure.

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. It is the policy of INL to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information.

Women and People of Color are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Analysis Department at Idaho National Lab is seeking a Control Systems Cybersecurity Analyst for INL's National & Homeland Security Directorate, Cybercore Integration Center. In this role, you will help lead cutting edge technical analysis of cyber threats against the industrial control systems that form the very backbone of our nations critical infrastructure (e.g., our electrical grid, oil & gas pipelines, nuclear energy facilities, military installations and transportation networks).

You will leverage an understanding of the analytic, cybersecurity, and engineering disciplines, and draw from open source and classified intelligence information to draft technical reports, briefings, white papers, strategies and other products that help inform US Government agencies, the Department of Defense, and public utilities.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong team-oriented ethic as they will contribute to collaborative projects comprised of one or more other analysts, control systems subject matter experts, power engineers, and cyber researchers to execute a mix of both short- and long-term technical projects. Furthermore, Cybercore seeks analysts that are self-motivated and willing to proactively identify and execute work.

Analysts are expected to distill complex technical information into concise written reports and briefings for non-technical audiences, therefore in-depth knowledge of engineering practices (electrical, mechanical, or power) or computer science principles are desired. This position requires strong communication skills (both written and verbal), a willingness to learn new ways of thinking, and a thirst for continuous learning. Analysts will be called upon to inform high levels of the US Government concerning issues involving cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and control systems.

This is an exciting time to be in the field of control systems cyber threat analysis, as protecting our industrial control systems from foreign cyber-attacks is now recognized by both government and industry as one of the nations highest priority challenges.

Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Security Clearance.

Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience or Master's and 1-3 years or Doctorate and 0-2 years.

Education or professional experience with industrial control systems or cybersecurity for operational technology environments is highly desired. Relevant experience includes intelligence analysis and intelligence report writing for federal, state or local government consumers.

Applicants with a body of published analyses on industrial control systems in the oil & gas and electric industries, maritime engineering, or military-related industrial control systems will be viewed very favorably. Applicants who, in addition to the skills and experience listed above, also possess language skills in Chinese Mandarin, Persian, Arabic, Russian or other foreign languages will be highly competitive.

Must have a demonstrated record of excellent writing and verbal communication skills combined with proficiency in a technical field.

Candidates with process and/or control systems experience, including maritime or other military-related controls experience, will be viewed favorably.

Applicants will be required to provide a writing sample and give a presentation as part of the interview process.

To be eligible for employment at INL males born after December 31, 1959 must have registered with the Selective Service System (SSS). This includes U.S. born and naturalized citizens, parolees, undocumented immigrants, legal permanent residents, asylum seekers, refugees, and all males with visas of any kind which expired more than 30 days ago. The few individuals who are exempt from this requirement are those on current non-immigrant visas. For more information see
